Why did you decide to choose fashion designing as a career?
Since I remember I`ve always been interested in art. Firstly I enjoyed drawing and painting and then in high school I choose to study fashion design and to make it my profession. I choose it because I`ve always loved to create unique things.
What was the first piece you ever designed?
It was in college, some kind of experiment, I made an outfit, pants and top, with phone cables. I sew the cables one next to another and made a model that I am very proud of.
The designs you created are no doubt outstanding, what inspires you?
Usually I find my inspiration in art, history of the arts and artists.
What skills according to you are necessary for a successful fashion designer?
I think a successful fashion designer must be talented, hardworking, should have a good eye for details and have a well developed color sense as well.
What kind of ethics you believe in following while working with fashion?
Firstly, I believe every fashion designer should always have in mind to be unique and to put in each garment something that represents them. From the very beginning I believed in the eco-friendly story. In the future I want to have a fully eco-friendly brand, which means that each garment and the production process should have zero bad imapct on the environment. I am in love with animals and I think everyone should pay attention to be more „Eco”, by replacing natural fur and leather with faux fur and eco leather.
What role do you think social media plays in fashion today?
In my personal case social media plays a huge role for my career. For the marketing it helps me a lot, most of the people who follow my work firstly saw me on Instagram. Also, that’s the place I found out about each competition and fashion shows where I participated. Social Media is a perfect way to create your own community and to expand your business.
How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?
I want women to feel unique and powerful while wearing my designs.
What techniques do you use while creating a collection?
I focus on 3D printing, creating decorative parts with 3D printer or making a whole fabric with flexible filaments. In my opinion it`s a perfect way to create artistic and at the same time wearable garments. I use recyclable and biodegradable materials to avoid waste. I love to experiment with future technologies as laser cutting technique and different printing techniques on fabric.
What’s your top pick from the latest collection?
My top pick from the latest collection is definitely the Red Jumpsuit with 3D printed hands belt and earrings.
What challenges did you face?
First of all, finding fabrics is a big challenge because in Serbia, we don`t have a wide range of fabrics, especially eco-friendly materials. After that I would say that 3D printing is the new thing here so not everyone understands it, as well as the eco-friendly story, often people ask me why am I doing that. I would say the most challenging part of my job is misunderstanding the art.
